The Amazing Benefits of Bar Soap

At the moment I am using a gorgeous pink rose soap that literally smells like a rose garden. I love it and it makes shower time so enjoyable.

We gave up using body wash in our household a number of years ago in favour of bar soap. The main reason was to reduce plastic waste, but since then I’ve discovered a raft of other benefits too.

It lasts so long

Luxury or handmade soaps may seem expensive, but they just keep on giving. Let them rest on a free draining soap dish and they can last for 4 to 6 weeks.

Great for your skin

So the purpose of soap is to remove dirt, but we don’t want to strip out all the good oils too. Good quality soap, especially handmade soap, is made using skin loving oils such as olive oil and shea butter which moisturize your skin while gently cleaning it.

Handmade soap contains naturally occurring glycerin, a humectant that attracts and retains moisture. Unfortunately glycerin is removed from mass produced commercial soap. So rather choose handmade.

No need for preservatives

Bar soaps are naturally preservative free so are better for you and the environment.

Environmentally awesome

Soaps don’t need packaging, ever. If they get dirty, just rinse them under a tap. Handmade soaps are also fully biodegradable.

Happy showering!
